"I had tried to stop smoking many times and never got passed the first couple of days, even with zyban . . . I had almost given into the fact that smoking was a part of me, it’s who I am. At the end of February this year, I was cleaning out an old draw and I came across one of Julie’s leaflets. As I read through, I was thinking could this really work for me.

I phoned and made an appointment with Julie after my mum offered to pay for the session for my birthday. It was a good incentive for me because I will have to pay my mum back if I start again (which I will not be doing).

Julie sent me the CD to listen to and I was pleasantly surprised by how relaxed it made me feel, I got into the habit of listening to it several times a week leading up to my appointment.

On the day of my appointment I went out for my last ciggie with my work mates, which I really enjoyed doing, catching up on the gossip! All I could think to myself as we talked about my appointment was I really hope this works for me I never want to have to pay my mum back the money.

I arrived at the appointment feeling nervous and apprehensive, I just didn’t know how to feel. I tried to imagine what it would be like to come out of the session and not instantly want a cigarette. The session was great! Me and Julie chatted at first and talked about why I wanted to stop and how I started in the first place. Then we went into the hypnosis session, I felt relaxed and I can remember almost everything Julie said to me.  When we had finished, I still couldn’t believe I would walk out of there and be a non-smoker.

I walked outside, passed the shop, to my car, I drove home, got in the house, had a cup of coffee, and no cigarette and I didn’t mind. I wouldn’t have got passed the shops before. I have been a non-smoker now for six weeks and a feel fantastic. I have also saved a couple of hundred pounds already and bought my mum a great birthday present, I will never really be able to thank her enough for freeing me from smoking.

I go out clubbing most weekends, I went to see Julie for my session on Wednesday and went out on the Friday and I was dreading it but I was fine. I thought about cig’s a little when I was having a drink but the thought just passed and the next day when I got out of bed I was so proud of my self that I had done it . . . 

I do think about having a cigarette now and again and then I remember I am a non-smoker and I will be a non-smoker for the rest of my life and the thought passes within seconds."
